The fantastic Bompas and Parr are coming to Bristol, to fill the ss Great Britain's floating glass floor surround with jelly!
Following a national competition and a public vote, the event will be part of 'Museums at Night' – the annual after hours celebration when hundreds of museums, galleries, libraries, archives and heritage sites open their doors for special evening events. Friday May 18th to Sunday May 20th 2012.
Also known as the ‘Jellymongers’, Bompas and Parr's previous work includes a jelly copy of St Paul’s Cathedral and a giant jelly cocktail lake.

WEDF is delighted to have the creator of multi-award winning Studio Myerscough, coming to discuss her work, influences and inspirations.
Working beyond 2-D, Morag makes places from the spaces that people like to be in, places that stimulate and can make you smile. The eclectic breadth of her work includes numerous exhibitions and interpreting buildings, such as Westminster Academy that was nominated for the Stirling Prize. She is currently working on projects for both the Design Museum and the new Tate Modern extension.
Morag’s talk at the Arnolfini in Bristol will be a look at projects past and present, global and local including recent work with KHBT architects in the new ‘Finzels Reach’ complex, just around the corner from the Arnolfini.

Monday night's first event for WEDF's Five Days of Design was a huge success.
More than one hundred local designers and lovers of design came together to celebrate why We Love Design at Spike Island's cafe .
We laughed, we (nearly) cried, we met new people, we drank beer, and we learnt how five million lives have been saved down to the re-design of a hypodermic needle, about where our friends and colleagues find their inspiration in everyday life and about what makes our designers tick.

Day five - The Future is Bright? - was a jam-packed afternoon of insights about design in relation to science, technology, law, sustainability and business. David Kester, Chief Executive of the Design Council, kicked off the event that covered everything from design education and intellectual property to European design strategy and scenario planning. "The mix of speakers was great" said one member of the audience, "I have come away thinking more about what the future holds and the impact design has on business".
