Do you love your bike? Do you think you've got the best bike in the world?

Now's the time to prove it! We're offering ten free passes (worth £25 each) to Ride + Design on 15 June, where you can immerse yourself in the world of cycle industry legends such as James Fairbank (Rapha) and Will Butler-Adams (Brompton).

The catch? You'll be asked to bring your bike with you and declare your love for it on stage! You'll have just 90 seconds and the audience will be voting for their favourites.

We're not just looking for the latest and greatest in exotic bikes. We're looking for the story and the connection between you – so if that old beater you commute to work on everyday is the true cycling love of your life, we want to know about it!

Just send us a picture of you and your bike and a short description of why you should be on that stage together.

The closing date for entries is Saturday 1 June.

More details are here.

One Thing I Know

One Thing I Know

New website OneThingIKnow.co.uk is celebrating its foundation with the launch of a new book …

New website OneThingIKnow.co.uk is celebrating its foundation with the launch of a new book featuring a wealth of hard-earned business insights from an impressive range of leaders from across the creative spectrum, from Aardman to Future Publishing.

Published by Creative England as both a free book and website, One Thing I Know compiles hard-earned insights from creative entrepreneurs in a series of articles aimed at passing down their experience of starting, running and growing a creative company.

The articles cover all the creative sectors and come from both established creatives – including Dave Sproxton (Aardman) Charles Wace (twofour) Spencer Buck (Taxi Studio) and Jim Douglas (Future Publishing) – as well as from 20-somethings whose agencies are just surviving their first few years.

The book, designed by Fiasco Design, also contains original artwork from over 30 commissioned UK artists, including Gav Strange, Slumber Bean, Pixillion and Sneaky Raccoon.

The free book can be ordered from www.OneThingIKnow.co.uk, where all the articles are also available in digital format.

Aardman executive chairman David Sproxton says: “Learning from others and their mistakes is so much better than struggling on your own and making many mistakes along the way. So much of what we know, we have learnt from others, and the skills of entrepreneurship are no different. This website and book are valuable tools to help drive success for all budding entrepreneurs.”

Creative England CEO Caroline Norbury says: “England’s creative businesses are already a big success. They generate jobs, profile and value and they drive innovation. Creative England’s objective is to help them raise that ambition further and support them to grow.”

Book and website editor Daniel Humphry adds: “Despite opportunities being rare in this recession, small creative businesses are popping up across the country, fronted by young creatives who refuse to sell themselves short. They are producing innovative, trendsetting work and in many areas out-stripping the established agencies who years before had nothing for them. Hopefully this book can be of help as others follow that path.”

Creative England innovation director Anthony Story says: “If there’s one quote that stands out from working with many creative entrepreneurs, it’s ‘I’d like to talk to someone who’s done it before’. Gaining insight to entrepreneurs who have already navigated the challenges they face, can clarify things in a way 20 business consultants would never achieve. That’s really the inspiration for One Thing I Know.”
